A Celebration of Craft and Creativity
In a recent PaperSpecs [unboxed] event, Sabine Lenz brought the print and design community together to celebrate tactile design and premium print. For this year’s event, Sabine partnered with Harris & Bruno to create a holiday card that shows what is possible when uncoated paper meets advanced digital embellishment. The result is a festive keepsake that blends elegance, precision, and the unmistakable impact of tactile print.
The card was digitally embellished on the Harris & Bruno ZRX Digital Embellishment Press. To bring the artwork to life, we combined three distinct foils and one signature texture. Gold foil adds warmth, silver foil adds contrast, and clear holographic foil brings a subtle shifting glow that fits the season. The greeting itself, “Happy Holidays,” is finished in xMatte, giving it a soft embossed look that stands out beautifully against the metallic elements.
Why Uncoated Paper Matters
Uncoated stock often carries a premium, natural feel, but it can be a challenge for when it comes to digital embellishment workflows. With the ZRX, tactile effects apply safely, cleanly, and consistently on uncoated media, making it possible to create luxury experiences without the need for lamination. This PaperSpecs holiday card is a perfect example. The foils hold crisp detail, the xMatte sits smoothly on the surface, and the entire piece feels refined in hand, all without unsafe UV polymers diving into the substrate.

Designed to Inspire
PaperSpecs [unboxed] is all about sparking ideas for designers, printers, and brands, and to show what is possible. This card was crafted with that mindset. Every embellishment was chosen to show how digital techniques can elevate seasonal communications, packaging, direct mail, and high touch pieces throughout the year, even on uncoated media.
