Digital Embellishment on Uncoated Substrate

For this year’s New Years celebration, we partnered with Neenah to create a card that brings together premium uncoated paper, rich color, and the full creative range of digital embellishment. Printed on an HP Indigo using Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 130DTC at 16pt, the piece delivers a clean, luxurious foundation with the weight and feel that only double thick stock can provide.

Before any embellishment was applied, the Harris and Bruno ZRX Digital Embellishment Press laid down a unique satin and soft touch flood coating across the base artwork. This combination gives the piece a dull-semi-silky, refined surface that elevates the deep, rich black underneath and creates a smooth foundation for every effect that follows. From there, the ZRX built up layers of tactile and metallic finishes that turn the card into a true New Years showpiece.

Metallic Shine Meets Tactile Dimension

Gold foil brings warmth and brightness, giving the design a festive glow that pops against the dark background. Silver holographic foil adds a shifting, prismatic light that reflects the energy and motion of the season. Together, the combination creates a dynamic interplay of color that feels modern, celebratory, and unmistakably premium.

To bring even more life to the metallic elements, textured spot coating was added on top of the silver holographic foil. This additional layer gives the foil dimension and grip, creating a raised feel that makes the artwork more interactive and memorable.

Glossy & xMatte Spot Coating

Glossy spot coating provides crisp highlights across the artwork, adding shine in key areas and creating moments of visual contrast. In contrast, the details in xMatte provide a more quiet texture with an embossed look that stands out beautifully against the reflective foils and gloss coatings.

Because every effect was produced digitally on the ZRX, the entire piece was created without dies, screens, or long setup requirements. This allowed for complete creative freedom and precise placement, giving the final card its layered, high impact finish.
