Harris & Bruno International officially revealed the first pieces from the Out of This World Embellishments initiative at DSCOOP Edge Rockies 2026, in the form of a 20-card sample pack. The unveiling generated tremendous excitement among attendees, with printers, designers, and brands gathering to experience firsthand how digital embellishment is redefining what is possible in modern print.

The project was designed to educate and push the boundaries of tactile print by bringing together creative designers and advanced embellishment technology. The result was a collection of striking samples that demonstrated how texture, metallic shine, and dimensional effects can transform print into an experience that immediately captures attention.

A True Industry Collaboration

Out of This World Embellishments was built as a collaborative initiative that connects technology leaders, designers, and the print community. The campaign was developed in partnership with HP Digital Print, Dscoop, and Taktiful to highlight how innovation happens when creative vision and advanced production capabilities work together.

Design participation came from across the design community. Submissions were received from independent designers, practicing designers working in the print and packaging industries, and emerging creative talent from universities such as California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) and UC Berkley. Bringing together students, professionals, and independent creatives allowed the project to explore a wide range of artistic directions and applications.

This diversity of contributors helped produce a set of samples that showcase both technical precision and bold creative thinking, demonstrating how digital embellishment can elevate everything from packaging concepts to artistic print pieces.

Exploring the Power of Digital Embellishment

Every piece in the Out of This World Embellishments collection was produced on the Harris & Bruno ZRX Digital Embellishment Press. This platform enabled designers to experiment with multiple layers of embellishment and create finishes that combine visual impact with tactile dimension.

Attendees at DSCOOP experienced a wide range of advanced effects throughout the collection. The samples demonstrated the distinctive xMatte texture that delivers an embossed-like feel without traditional tooling, layered foil over foil effects that create complex metallic visuals, and varnish applied over foil to introduce contrast and depth. Many pieces also used carefully placed spot coatings to guide light and touch across the design.

These techniques illustrate how digital embellishment allows printers to quickly and affordably achieve finishes that previously required multiple processes and significant setup. With digital control over each layer, designers are able to combine effects in ways that open new creative and commercial opportunities for print.

Our First Annual Designer Collaboration

The Out of This World Embellishments initiative also marks Harris & Bruno’s first annual designer collaboration and contest focused on digital embellishment. While the project celebrates creativity, it was also created with a deeper purpose: education.

The print industry is evolving rapidly, and the tools available to designers today are very different from those that existed even a few years ago. Digital embellishment platforms like the Harris & Bruno ZRX are now capable of producing dimensional textures, layered foils, and complex surface effects in a single streamlined workflow. However, many designers are still being trained without direct exposure to these capabilities.

By inviting students, independent creatives, and professional designers to participate in this initiative, the program helps bridge that gap. Working one-on-one with H&B’s team helped designers gain firsthand experience understanding what modern embellishment technology can achieve and how those effects can be integrated into their creative process from the very beginning.

This is particularly important for emerging designers entering the industry. The equipment being installed in print facilities today will shape the production environment they will work with tomorrow. Providing access to these capabilities now helps ensure that the next generation of designers understands how to design for texture, dimension, and tactile storytelling.

Based on the strong response from both designers and attendees at DSCOOP Edge Rockies, Harris & Bruno plans to continue expanding this collaboration as an annual initiative, creating new opportunities for designers and print professionals to explore the creative potential of digital embellishment.

Looking Ahead

The debut of the Out of This World Embellishments collection at DSCOOP Edge Rockies is only the beginning. In the coming weeks, Harris & Bruno will highlight the individual designers and their pieces, sharing the creative stories, embellishment techniques, and production details behind each design.

Select pieces from the collection will also be submitted to the Foil & Specialty Effects Association (FSEA) Gold Leaf Awards, where they will represent some of the most innovative digital embellishment work being produced today.

Together, these pieces represent a bold vision for the future of tactile print and demonstrate how digital embellishment can help printers deliver the kind of high-impact experiences that today’s brands and designers are demanding.
